Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World

Key of G

20100916:
I have yet to memorize the song, but I broke I was able to identify the main structure. I played along a couple times. I'll try to memorize some pieces tomorrow.

20100918:
Throw in the lyrics.

20100920:
So the two main parts are
G D C G
C G D Em C

G D C G
C G B7 Em
C D Em C

with G D Em C being a smaller part
and another big chunk that occurs without repetition being
D G D G
C G C G C G C D

20100923:
Corrected III' from [C D/A, Em C] to [C, D/A, Em, C].
Corrected III'' from [C D/A, G, C, G] to [C, D/A, G C, G]
Corrected VI from [C/B Em7/D C/B Em7/D] to [C/B Em7/D, C/B Em7/D]
Corrected VI' from [C/B Em7/D C D] to [C/B Em7/D, C, D]
Because the second tabber writes Em7/D (xx0003), I will replace (xx0003) written as Em7/D with G* and (xx2010) written as C/B with C*, to be consistent with Em* to represent (xx2000)
Changed B7 to Bm7, because Bm7 is in the key of G. Used (x20202) [instead of (x24323)] for both the sound and the easier transition coming from a G chord.should be Bm7 (x20202)[xBDABF#] or as in the second tab as Bm7* (xx4232)[xxF#ADF#]. Note however, the transition from a G to the first Bm7 is easier (x20202).

20100924:
I remember the song starting with breaking down the intro into two parts. I I'. Of which I just play G D, Em* C and remember the second time to play Em* and C twice. Then I know II and III. Actually I know III'. But III and III' are essentially the same. Then I make note that the second part of the intro is the outro. Then a lot of the chords are being paired to the lyrics for the main song. Without any references, I sang the song through, but I totally omitted the "The colors of the rainbow..." and "I hear babies cry..."

After taking a long nap later this evening, I woke up. Grabbed the guitar. And I was only lightly playing the chords, so that might have made it easier to do, but I was able to play all the chords, caught myself making an error during one of the verses which I redid correctly. And was able to get everything in, except playing III' which is the C, D, C G, C instead of C, D, Em, C. I considered the run through a success. Haha.

PN on his (tenor) ukulele, SN on ukulele, and me on guitar. Without a capo, I played the song in the same key as PN and SN, but one or two octaves lower. It was awkward to hear, but perhaps the overall tone coming from all three instruments worked out.
