Jack Johnson - Flake

20111108: [20111109] It's been a while since I've attempted this song. I remember when I had trouble with the barred chords. Now it's a matter of memorizing the lyrics. Without memorizing the lyrics, I occasionally lose track of the position of the chords. Otherwise, it's rather straightforward. I: Dm F Bb F I': Same as I but play each chord once. II: Dm F Bb C III: F C Dm A Bb C F C Intro: I I Verse: I I I II Chors: III III Verse: I' I' I II Chors: III III http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/j/jack_johnson/flake_ver4_crd.htm I can also practice the following strumming: D _ U D{palmhits} [U U U D U] [20111110] I've been practicing the strumming pattern. Today I started with the progression of the verse. Then the progression for the chorus. After practicing it a while I just focused on the lyrics. Then I tried to put it together.

Iron and Wine - Such Great Heights

Image
20160127: It's been a long time since I first looked at this song and I've learned many things since that time. Looking at the tab below, I'd start by just practicing the following chord progression: C, C, G, G, F, F, C, G. It is sufficient to strum and sing along with these chords. Then a simple finger-picking patter can spruce it up and a provides a good opportunity to practice timing the vocals. Finally, before playing the song as tabbed below, I'd start with the following simplification: C e|-------0---------|------[-]--------| B|-1-------------1-|-------1-------1-| G|---0-------0-----|---0-------0-----| D|-----2-------2---|-----2-------2---| A|-3-------3-------|-3-------3-------| E|-----------------|-----------------| _| 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + | 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + | G e|-------3---------|------[-]--------| B|-0-------------0-|-------0-------0-| G|---0-------0-----|---0-------0-----| D|-----0-------0---|-----0-------0---| A|-----------------|-----------...

Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song

Image
http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/b/bruno_mars/the_lazy_song_crd_992284id_01102010date.htm With this tab, strum up twice on each chords. Except perhaps the occasional need to strum four times. Strumming down works. Or sometimes strumming to imitate the whistling works. I didn't want to go through and memorize it at the moment because I didn't want to spend to much time feeling it out. But the chorus is B F# E repeated three times and then B D#m E. The song appears to be in the key of B major. B C# D# E F# G# A#. The tab writes Ebm instead of D#m.

Gavin DeGraw - Nice to Meet You Anyway

20111016: http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/g/gavin_degraw/nice_to_meet_you_anyway_crd.htm I took the given chords and tried to play the song how it sounded right. I didn't get a good feel for it. 20111022: The song is tabbed in the key of Bb. Bb Cm Dm Eb F Gm Adim. [I]: Bb | F | Gm | Eb Dm | is I V vi IV iii The intro has a little riff that plays over the chords. [II]: Dm Cm Eb Dm is iii ii IV iii [II']: Bb Cm Eb Dm is I ii IV iii [III]: Cm Eb is ii IV [IV]: Cm F Bb Dm Bb Dm Eb F Ab Eb is ii V I iii I iii IV V ? Jamming 20110929

A little sequence "Blackbird" "Tear's in Heaven" That one little tune C Am by that guy, fingerpicking [20200120: I'm not sure which song I'm referring to here. Initially I thought "Wherever You Will Go," but technically the chords for that are C G Am7 F C. If I meant Am C then perhaps "I Will Follow You Into the Dark."] Jammed I played "Who's Knocking" (a song which I wrote). She played her little sequence. "Romance" (classical piece) The draft for the above note had the datetime 20111013 3:48 PM. But texts indicate it may be 20110929.

LET IT FLOW 20110720 5 to 8 songs

20110720: So it's been a while since I've done this. I've decided to call it "LET IT FLOW." How I used to do it: I'd load up Pandora, let a station play. As a song comes by, I'd look up the guitar tab. Sometime there wouldn't be enough time to find a tab and understand it, but I'd have a print out, so the next time the song comes up, I'd have the tab ready. How I'll do it today: I've since looked for patterns to learn songs, and so it takes a little bit more processing. I'll load up an artist on Last.fm, let the radio start. Pause it on a song that I think I can learn. Look up the tab. Process it a bit. Play the song. If I want, I can look up the song on YouTube and practice it one or two more times if it's worth trying. Today's Radio: Last.fm. Artist: Goo Goo Dolls. Goo Goo Dolls - Here is Gone http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/g/goo_goo_dolls/here_is_gone_ver3_crd.htm The Calling - Wherever You Will Go http:/...
